Why we define cats and dogs as carnivores?

WHY CATS AND DOGS ARE CONSIDERED CARNIVORES?
Dogs and cats evolution has been similar to that of other predators, that's why their anatomy is built for a nutrition based on meat. As per their ancestors our dogs and cats, despite having adapted their digestive system to their sources of food, prefer meat-based nutrition. This concept is clear from a physiological and anatomical point of view by these points:

1. NO SALIVARY AMYLASE
This lack makes the pancreas overwork because it is in sole charge of the digestion of carbohydrates.

2. SHORT AND SIMPLE INTESTINES
thanks to the highly acidic pH inside the stomach, fats and proteins are easily and quickly digestible in a short intestinal tract.

3. TEETH AND JAW CONFORMATION
Large opening of mouth capable to swallow big chunks. Short and sharp teeth designed to rip flesh.

4. GLUCONEOGENESIS
Cats don't use carbohydrates as a primary energy source, but proteins and fats.

5. INSULINIC RESPONSE
Food rich in carbohydrates cause a higher insulin response and lead to the storage of glucose excess in body fat form. This process may lead to diabetes and obesity.

Natural & Delicious is the nutritional system scientifically studied for dogs and cats carnivore nature developed in two lines: Grain Free completely without cereals, and Low Ancestral Grain with only few ancestral cereals (spelt and oats).
